HONESTY Copy link
• HONESTY
probitas: integritas: sanctitas (moral purity): innocentia (blameless life): fides (fidelity). (The words are found in this connection and order.) integritas et fides: sinceritas (candor, guilelessness): probitas et ingenuitas: simplicitas (plainness, straightforwardness, in behavior): animus apertus (open-heartedness). ☞ Honestas is more than the English honesty = virtue as displaying itself in virtuous and noble sentiments; Döderlein. It may, however, be used for it when “honesty” is used in a very strong sense.
